The design concept behind Spirit of Ink is to capture the essence of a Chinese ink painting - the elegance and grace that comes from the application of heavy or light color onto paper. Ares Chiu explains, "Life should be like a Chinese ink painting, leaving suitable margins and making it easier and more meaningful." By incorporating this philosophy into the design, the team has created an interior space that is both refreshing and stylish.

The living room of the villa showcases the splicing of ink black and elegant white, with the two colors standing side by side. Leather sofas, curtains, marble tables, carpets, and ceramics are strategically placed throughout the space, reflecting the colors of the objects and creating a corner reminiscent of an ink painting.

One of the unique features of Spirit of Ink is the combination of Chinese painting-style boldness and naturalistic log elements. The small lion with a dot of ink on the table brings auspiciousness and charm, while the ink cabinet and curtain with a wide-open ink brush add a touch of mystery. It's as if you've been transported back to the Tang Dynasty, surrounded by the beauty of Chinese ink paintings.

The design team faced the challenge of incorporating Chinese ink painting elements into the interior space without making it feel gray, dull, or monotonous. They carefully balanced the lightness of the colors in different bedrooms to match the personality traits of the users, ensuring a space that is both visually appealing and reflective of the inhabitants' individuality.

The Spirit of Ink villa spans an area of 165 sqm and was completed in October 2021 in Guangxi, China. The design project started in July 2021, with extensive research conducted on the city of Yongzhou, known for its greenery and natural beauty. The team drew inspiration from the harmony between nature and the urban environment, incorporating the wisdom of Chinese ink painting into the design.

The Spirit of Ink design has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
